A Taste of Italy, founded in 1994 by two brothers, Tommy and Chris Guarino, .born and raised in New York. They came to Wilmington, NC, to open an Italian Deli and Market that would bring the taste of traditional New York Italian delicatessens to Coastal North Carolina. The Guarino Brothers, started by using original recipes that were passed down from generation-to-generation, shared with them by their mother. A Taste of Italy captures an authentic Italian taste that has earned them the title of “No.1 Deli in the Port City”.
Using only quality ingredients, many brought down from the Italian neighborhoods of New York, A Taste of Italy offer classic Italian hot entrees, prepared meals, fresh salads, awesome sandwiches and more.
The Guarino’s know the best imported Italian products, some hard to find, including pastas, canned tomatoes, olives and olive oil. Plus a great selection of fine wines.
Lots of folks come enjoy the great food at A Taste of Italy dining in the Market. But even better, is to take home one of the hot entrees, prepared meals or salads. Need meats and cheeses? “This place has been among my top favorites since I moved here years ago. So much good food under one roof. Breakfast sandwiches, chicken parm, lasagna, stuffed shells, everything they make is amazing. Their sandwiches come either on a roll or a wedge. Both are made with tons of meat and quality toppings. The roll is enough for anyone; the wedge is giant! The antipasto is sooooo good. As are the stuffed peppers. Great Stromboli on Fridays.
They’ve got tons of good food in their coolers: lobster ravioli, stuffed shells, various pastas. Wines and sauces, all sorts of quality groceries. Good bread, desserts, cookies—it’s my favorite deli/restaurant combo in town.”

“Visiting Wilmington for work and I had the best Italian sub since I left Chicago 6 years ago. For anyone from Chicago, think Fontano’s. It was sort of a build your own process. I will definitely hit this place again when in town! Authentic and back to the way a sandwich shop used to be….great food and atmosphere!” —James K.
“Very authentic Italian, from their market to their food. A great locally owned business in Wilmington.” —Harold J.
