Wake N Bake Donuts
It would be blaspheme for any Carolina Beach resident to think anyone could challenge the popularity of Britt’s Doughnuts, but this feature business on the Access Wilmington Minutia tour is giving Britt’s a run for the money. For one thing, they are located just on the Pleasure Island side of Snow’s Cut Bridge, next to the Food Lion. More convenient, if you’re not an islander. 2nd, they have crazy good, creative donuts. Just take a look at the menu board and you’ll know for sure you’ll be back soon to try a new and different flavor, like Cookies N Creamed, Chocolate Coach Potato, The Mauie Wauie, or the Twisted Turtle. No, we’re not going to spoil the surprise and tell you the ingredients of these tasty treats, but be assured there are melt-in-your-mouth donuts involved, along with other items such as cookies, bacon, potato chips and other quite remarkable toppings.
If you’re going in the morning, the typical donut obsession time, be prepared to be patient and stand in line, especially on weekends. The word is spreading like peanut butter on the PB&J donut. But it’s worth the wait. And you can take them to go by the dozens, but buy enough so you have some left when you reach your destination.
