A scenic 5-mile loop around Greenfield Lake, one of Wilmington’s most beloved green spaces. Flat and paved — ideal for walking, jogging, and cycling. Spanish moss-draped cypress trees line the water’s edge. Canoe and paddleboat rentals available seasonally.
A 58-acre nature preserve with over a mile of natural-surface hiking trails through longleaf pine habitat and pocosin wetlands. One of the best spots in Wilmington to spot native wildflowers and bird species. Dog-friendly with leash.
A hidden gem managed by the City of Wilmington, featuring quiet woodland trails along Burnt Mill Creek. Low foot traffic makes it a peaceful escape. Birdwatchers will find it especially rewarding during spring migration.
Five miles of trails through diverse coastal ecosystems including the famous Venus flytrap habitat (one of the few places on Earth where they grow wild). Trails include the Flytrap Trail, Sugarloaf Trail, and Lake Trail. Camping and boat launch on site.
67 acres of manicured gardens and natural walking paths featuring the 467-year-old Airlie Oak, seasonal azalea blooms, and a freshwater lake. More garden stroll than wilderness hike, but a stunning destination any time of year.

A popular neighborhood park with athletic fields, a community center, tennis courts, and paved walking paths. Hosts youth sports leagues and community events throughout the year. One of the most active parks in midtown Wilmington.
Beyond its trails, Long Leaf Park features an 18-hole disc golf course, a fishing lake, soccer fields, and playground equipment. One of the most complete recreational parks in Wilmington — worth a half-day visit.
Wilmington’s downtown riverfront park along the Cape Fear River. Paved boardwalk perfect for evening strolls, with views of the battleship USS North Carolina across the water. Connects to restaurants, shops, and the downtown entertainment district.
